Creative PAW: Creative Professionals for Animal Welfare

Ken-Mar Rescue is dedicated to saving impounded, abandoned, and “slightly used” animals and preparing them for new, permanent homes. To date, Ken-Mar has placed over 200 dogs that would otherwise have been destroyed at the shelters.

Now, Ken-Mar has a beautiful new website, courtesy of creativePAW volunteer Stephen Weber.

“The experience with creativePAW has been an amazing journey,” says Ken-Mar co-founder Martie Petrie. “The process was extremely easy to navigate through and provided both parties an opportunity to collaborate on somethng and turn ‘nothing’ into something extraordinary. This is a win-win for all involved, but especially for all of those innocent creatures who rely on all of us to be their voice.”

Thanks to volunteer Stephen Weber for all his great work.

Below is a message from Reach Out for Animal Rights (ROAR). If you’re interested in volunteering for ROAR, please contact Rachel Ogden at justroar@comcast.net.

Reach Out for Animal Rights (ROAR) is a grassroots group working on animal advocacy issues in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and sometimes in Delaware. Our current efforts include outreach and demonstrations against pet stores that sell animals, raising funds to equip local fire departments with animal oxygen masks, Trap-Neuter-Return & Manage, anti-vivisection education, vegan outreach and much more.

While I have volunteers that help out when they can, I am the main person trying to do everything, so any help is greatly appreciated!

Here are some things I could use help with:

New group name: While we like “ROAR”, we really don’t like what it stands for “Reach Out for Animal Rights”. We also don’t like that a ROAR already exists (it’s an Animal Planet project). We desperately need a new, catchy name that encompasses everything we do. Until we have that, many things are on hold. Any ideas?

Logo: As soon as we get a new name, we’ll need a logo to go along with it.

Website help: We need help designing a main group website, as of now we only have a myspace: www.myspace.com/reachoutforanimalrights. One of our campaign websites, www.BoycottMonsterPets.com, needs work so that it is less intimidating and more inspirational and useful.

Marketing: Our anti-puppy mill campaign website, www.BoycottMonsterPets.com has been up since December 2007 and doesn’t even have 2,000 views yet. L We need to get all of our efforts out there to be seen by the general public and not just other animal advocates.

Fundraising: We have NO money. After we have a new name, we are getting moving on getting our non-profit status which will make fundraising easier. But until then, we really need money to continue our TNR efforts. How can we do this online?

Children’s Activity Books:
We do a lot of community outreach and we’d love help designing some small, short animal advocacy themed activity books to hand out to children so they too can understand how they can help animals.

K9 Best Friends Forever (K9BFF), located in California (Fresno and Redding), rescues and adopts at-risk dogs throughout California. They rescue small dogs only, but assist in re-homing others. They are a 501c3 non-profit corporation, and have been in business since October 2007. K9BFF needs a website, but doesn’t have the first clue how to accomplish that, and hasn’t been able to afford to hire someone to do it. Anyone who is interested in helping them create a website can call or email:
