We provide trained companion dogs for children with autism and victims of trauma. All companion dogs comes from rescues or shelters. The dogs are trained by inmates in the Colorado prisons.

Description of your project:
The cost to train a companion dog through the prison system is $450.00 for 6 weeks-basic training, plus $50.00 a week for additional training for specific needs.

Some rescues are not waving their adoption cost. Such as the old english sheepdogs on our site.

Would like to find a trainer who would help further train dog as service dogs.

Looking for a grant writer or fundraiser first and foremost. Also looking for a service dog trainer.

Volunteers who are:

1.–working with the County Animal Shelter to promote transport of dogs vs. euthanasia.

2.–developing curriculum to present to County schools to educate students in animal care plus the need to spay/neuter pets.

Description of your project:

Would like professional assistance to accomplish goal #2. Information is available from SPCA, AKA, Humane Society, etc. and numerous volunteers provide “one day presentations” in schools; however, SAFE envisions an ongoing, standardized program for various (elementary/high school) grade levels. In lieu of the State or County passing regulations for licensing, no-tethering law and similar requirements, we (SAFE) feels the need to provide education to the younger generation is essential to control the unbelieveable Shelter intake of unwanted animals in this area.

Our desire is to create a curriculum which could be used in the County school system vs. having “show and tell” type volunteers present materials from the various organizations which offer these. The available materials are good; however, our wish is that the TEACHING be MORE than this occasional visit by local residents who volunteer to visit a class.

I would surely appreciate any assistance which might be available and am identifying many types in the following list. This COULD be of value on a nationwide basis.
