I just received this e-mail:
My name is Karen and I’ve been working professionally in the animal welfare field for about 13 years. I currently work for the Alliance for Contraception in Cats & Dogs and previously worked at Best Friends Animal Society. My special area of interest is in communication, culture and conflict in the animal welfare field. I’ve recently completed a degree in Organizational Communication and a Certificate in Conflict Resolution and Mediation. My capstone project was the creation of a conflict resolution handbook for animal welfare workers. I am eager to share this group as a free resource for those working (either in paid or volunteer positions) in this field. I’ll be presenting a workshop on this topic at the No More Homeless Pets Conference this October.
I am seeking volunteer help with designing the handbook. It will not be terribly long (about 7,500 words–more like a booklet). The content is essentially complete (getting a little more input from reviewers, currently, but nearly done), but I’ve done essentially no formatting up to this point. I do have some ideas about the tone and basic design. The handbook will be accessed primarily online as a pdf; I’d like the design to look good whether viewed on a screen or printed on a home or office printer.
If you are interested in working on this project, please contact me at karen@acc-d.org or on my cell at 503-310-4265. I am based in Portland, Oregon, so in the Pacific time zone.
Thanks, volunteers!
