Hi, creativePAW Volunteers!
I try not to send volunteer requests on the weekend, but this week I had a house full of guests AND I’ve been sick! We have six requests this time, and I’ll be sending another e-mail out with a few more requests early next week.
If you think you can help any of these animal welfare orgs, please contact them via the e-mail addresses listed.
Also, please do ask any other creative professionals you know to join creativePAW at http://www.creativepaw.org! We’re especially in need of web designers and PR/marketing people as those seem to be the most popular requests.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Our big goal is to build an education center, as you will see in the website. However, our immediate project is described below.

Description of your project:
We are in great need of help with fundraising and things such as marketing/PR. Due to the downturn in the economy, donations have nearly dried up (yet demand for horses needing help has more than doubled) and we have run out of ideas to try to raise much needed funding to continue to help the horses.

4. Kinship Circle Seeks Volunteer Media Consultant
Organization: Kinship Circle
Website:
http://www.kinshipcircle.org/disasters/
Kinship Circle — a 501c3 animal advocacy group with a specialized animal disaster aid faction — is presently deployed to the Gulf Oil Spill, in an investigative capacity to document oil-affected animals and alert Unified Command where they are. Although animal rescue groups (other than a handful of organizations authorized under Unified Command) currently do not have access into restricted zones, we are part of unique project.
Kinship Circle was asked to “embed” with acclaimed documentary filmmaker Tom McPhee for his All Eyes On The Gulf (AEOTG) expedition. Our animal disaster responders are on the ground to focus camera lenses and notepads on contaminated parts of Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Texas. AEOTG is a scientific tour to collect visual records. It’s also a window to the truth. As part of AEOTG’s crew of filmmakers and photojournalists, Kinship Circle may deploy teams through August, as funds permit.
Description of your project:
WE ARE SEEKING SOMEONE TO:
* Distribute our press releases to national broadcast and print media.
* Follow-up with the press.
* Possibly write PSAs and other soundbite type messaging for social media such as Twitter.
* Possibly help coordinate interviews.
* Ultimately become a liaison between Kinship Circle and the press.
We need someone flexible, as the nature of disaster response is ever changing. This person’s media role may expand, if he or she is open to that. At a minimum, we need someone to assemble and circulate our press releases. Brenda, a writer herself, will create the press releases and provide a framework for any additional writing.

6. Bark Avenue Foundation Seeks Volunteer Web Designer
Organization:
Bark Avenue Foundation
Organization’s website:
http://www.barkavenuefoundation.org
Description of organization:
The Bark Avenue Foundation is a nonprofit 501c3 organization committed to significantly reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter, humane education, rescue and re-homing and community outreach. Because of LA’s cultural diversity as well as the myriad of languages and cultural beliefs, we find it is critical to do aggressive spay/neuter outreach in order to address the pet overpopulation crisis in our city.
Los Angeles has been identified as one of the cities having the highest euthanasia rates in the country. With the current economic crisis, people are being forced to abandon their beloved pets at a record rate. These two situations challenge us to urgently address every opportunity to save animals lives through Bark Avenue Foundations programs and outreach.
Our goal is to serve as a community resource for people (and their animals) in underserved areas in the greater Los Angeles area. We specifically chose to locate in South LA, not far from Skid Row, the USC Campus and the industrial neighborhoods south of downtown. By being in close proximity to the people and animals that need us most, we are able to be a visible and viable community resource for them and are able to provide spay/neuter information, spay/neuter access, and information on humane education, vaccinations, proper nutrition and proper pet care.
Description of your project:
Our website needs a facelift! Needs to be more user friendly, visually and navigational. All around updated. With a more user friendly site, more people who visit our site are apt to look around longer, and hopefully adopt one of our loving animals into THEIR loving home. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
