If you’re in California, you may be interested in learning more about Proposition 2, which stops cruel and inhumane treatment of animals, ending the practice of cramming farm animals into cages so small the animals can’t even turn around, lie down or extend their limbs.
Yes on 2 – Californians for Humane Farms is sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States, Farm Sanctuary and other animal protection groups, family farmers, veterinarians, environmentalists, consumer and worker advocates, and public health professionals. The measure is supported by leading organizations and experts such as the California Veterinary Medical Association, the Center for Food Safety, the Center for Science in the Public Interest, Clean Water Action, the Consumer Federation of America, the Sierra Club, and the Union of Concerned Scientists. They have joined together in an effort to pass a statewide initiative that will appear on the November 2008 ballot—one that will phase out the cruelest confinement of calves, pigs and hens kept on California factory farms.
